FURNACE & BOILER

Kooler Group is your trusted HVAC company in Yorkton, specializing in quick and reliable furnace and repairs. â€‹ If your furnace is not working, here are a few things you can check before calling the experts at Kooler Group:

1. Check the thermostat to ensure it's set to a temperature higher than the room temperature.

2. Inspect the circuit breaker or fuse box to see if the furnace has tripped or blown a fuse. Check your furnace switch - is it on?  Don't laugh, this is so common!

3. Replace the air filter if it's dirty, as this can restrict airflow and affect performance. If you need a filter we have a variety on hand.

4. Look for any error codes on the furnace's display, which can provide clues about the issue.  Take count of the flashes and sequences.  We will probably ask you how many flashes you see.

If these steps don’t resolve the problem, for furnace and boiler repairs call Kooler Group at 306-783-5665.  We offer 24/7 emergency repairs with parts in stock and staff on standby.

Repair FAQ's

Should I Repair or Replace?

This is where we believe homeowners deserve straight answers.

A repair might be the smart choice if:

  • Your furnace is otherwise in good condition.

  • The problem is isolated and reasonably affordable to fix.

  • The system has been reliable.

  • Replacement would offer limited benefit right now

Replacement may be worth considering if:

  • Your furnace is experiencing repeated breakdowns.

  • A major repair is expensive relative to the equipment's remaining life.

  • Heating performance has become unreliable.

  • A newer system could offer meaningful efficiency or comfort improvements.

At Kooler, we don't believe in replacing equipment just because it's easier to sell you something new.

My Furnace Is Blowing Cold Air

Possible causes include thermostat fan settings, restricted airflow, ignition problems or safety shutdowns. A qualified technician can diagnose issues that aren't resolved by basic homeowner checks.

My Furnace Won't Turn On

There are several reasons why your furnace may not be turning on. Common issues include a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker, which can interrupt power to the unit Additionally, a dirty air filter may restrict airflow, causing the furnace to shut down as a safety precaution. Make sure the furnace door is on tightly. Other potential problems could involve a malfunctioning thermostat or issues with the ignition system. Give us a call if the common issues aren't the issue.

My Furnace Is Making an Odd Noise

If you start hearing banging, rattling, squealing, or other unusual sounds, it could be a sign that something needs attention.

  • Loud banging noise? Can be caused by expanding and contracting ductwork, loose components, or delayed ignition in a gas furnace. If you hear a bang accompanied by a gas smell, or suspect a gas ignition problem, turn the furnace off if it is safe to do so and contact a qualified professional.

  • Rattling noise? Can indicate loose screws, vibrating ductwork, a loose access panel, or a component inside the furnace that needs attention. In some cases, a worn blower motor or damaged fan component may be responsible.

  • High-pitched squealing noise? Can be a worn motor bearing, a blower motor problem, or another moving component that is struggling to operate properly.

  • Helicopter or airplane? Can be a blower wheel issue, an unbalanced fan, loose components, or a motor problem. A dirty air filter can also restrict airflow and contribute to abnormal operation.

  • Loud humming or buzzing noise? Can indicate an electrical issue, a failing motor, or a vibrating component.
